Taking music lessons benefits children in more ways than most people realize. Research continues to show us just how beneficial music lessons are for us and our children.

🎵 Academics
Students who take music lessons tend to do better in school. Music lessons help teach discipline, problem-solving and time management. It can improve memory and improve listening skills. It can even help with language and reading ability.

🎵 Development of Social Skills
Music lessons (especially group classes) can encourage social development. It can improve a child's ability to cooperate with others and work in a team. Many close friendships have been formed by students in Carillon Music's group classes.

🎵 Emotional Growth
Music lessons can help a child express their feelings. It can be a healthy outlet for a child to manage feelings they might not be able to otherwise communicate yet.

🎵 Fosters Creativity
Taking music lessons inspires the imagination and curiosity. Kids are encouraged to explore new ideas and express themselves freely. Many Carillon Music students have written and even recorded and published songs! Some of our past Carillon Music students are played regularly on Canadian radio stations.

🎵 Life-Long Brain Health
Studies have shown that music can play a role in keeping our brains healthy! Playing an instrument requires different areas of your brain to work together while students learn to have their right and left hands doing different things. It leads to neurogenesis, the development of new brain cells, as students learn coordination they wouldn't learn outside of music lessons.
At Carillon Music Academy we have many older adults students who take music lessons as a way of preventing dementia and keeping their minds sharp.

🎵 Career Opportunities
It can open the door to career possibilities in the future. Did you know many of our current teachers were once Carillon Music students themselves! We also have many students who decided to become music therapists, school music and band teachers, professional musicians, and more! Being able to teach music lessons can also be a flexible job for students going through post-secondary education.

When a child starts taking music lessons, they're embarking on a journey that encompasses so much more than just learning to play an instrument.
